About the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE)

The MBE is a 200-question, six-hour multiple-choice exam administered in two 100-question sessions. Of the 200 questions, 175 are scored and 25 are unscored pretest items, and the scored questions are divided evenly — 25 from each of the seven subjects. On the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE), the MBE counts for 50% of the total score, with the Multistate Essay Examination (MEE) at 30% and the Multistate Performance Test (MPT) at 20%. Because the MBE is half your score and is the same nationwide, focused MBE practice is the most efficient way to move your number.

The 7 MBE subjects

Each subject contributes 25 scored questions. Bar Exam MBE Prep covers all seven, with a full explanation on every question showing the controlling rule, why the correct answer is right, and why each wrong answer is wrong.

Constitutional Law

Federal judicial and legislative power, federalism, individual rights, due process, equal protection, and the First through Sixth Amendments.

Contracts

Formation (offer, acceptance, consideration), terms, performance, breach, and remedies — UCC Article 2 for goods vs. common law for services.

Criminal Law & Procedure

Homicide, theft, defenses, Fourth Amendment search and seizure, Fifth Amendment Miranda, and Sixth Amendment right to counsel.

Civil Procedure

Subject-matter jurisdiction (diversity, federal question), personal jurisdiction, venue, pleadings, and claim and issue preclusion.

Evidence

Relevance, hearsay and its exceptions, impeachment, privilege, and lay and expert opinion testimony.

Real Property

Present and future interests, landlord–tenant, easements, covenants, mortgages, and recording acts.

Torts

Negligence (duty, breach, causation, damages), intentional torts, strict liability, products liability, and defamation.

Beyond the MBE, the app includes an MEE essay framework (IRAC) covering the MBE subjects plus Agency, Partnerships, Trusts, Family Law, Conflict of Laws, and Secured Transactions.

Two tools you won't find in a question bank alone

MBE Issue Spotter

The hardest skill on the MBE is identifying what a question is testing before you read the answer choices. For each subject the Issue Spotter shows the trigger words that signal a specific legal issue, the correct framework to apply, the most commonly missed sub-issues, and the rule statement in one sentence.

Constitutional Law Quick Reference

The most-tested doctrine, fully mapped — federal powers (Article III standing, the Commerce Clause, the Necessary and Proper Clause, the Supremacy Clause and preemption) and individual rights (substantive and procedural due process, equal protection, and the First through Sixth Amendments).
