About the NMLS SAFE Act Exam
The NMLS SAFE Act exam is required to become a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) through a state agency. The SAFE MLO National Test with Uniform State Content has 120 multiple-choice items, including 115 scored and 5 unscored pretest questions, with a 190-minute test length. NMLS requires a score of 75% or better.
